Writings for Spiral Earth:
Written through the Autumn of 2011, this collection of 'letters' by Mat Martin took the position of a British folk musician working in Canada on the Joanna Chapman-Smith tour of British Columbia and Alberta, with a rehearsal period in Toronto. A selection of articles including letters on touring and performing, interviews with other musicians and reviews of shows.
To coincide with the release of Kirsty McGee's 'No.5' album in the Spring of 2010, Hobopop Productions were invited to be guest editors of UK folk music website Spiral Earth. Over five days they presented a selection of articles from a variety of artists, curated and edited by Mat Martin.
Written for David Kushar's series of articles on guitars and luthiers, talking of the instruments used in Kirsty McGee's live shows.

LESSONS
Mat teaches a small number of students in an informal and irregular style, focusing on music and communication, and coming to technique as a means to achieve these. Lessons are taught one-on-one and in person, although a certain amount may be done via video calling with non-beginners. Requests for one-off lessons are welcome and can often be arranged around touring schedules for students living far away.

He teaches from the person out, rather than the more external technicalities of an instrument. LECTURES
Mat has experience in and is available to give lectures and workshops in academic institutions, and has worked as a guest lecturer at Leeds College of Music, speaking on subjects such as History of Electronic Music - 1910-1980, Score Editing in Sibelius and Critical Practice (postgrad. workshop).
